Electronics Research at Otago
Modern electronics is about communication, computation, control, and circuits. Research and teaching in the Electronics Group within the Department of Physics covers these topics, getting us involved in electronic devices, extreme computer architectures, radio astronomy, inverse problems, machine vision and learning, and industrial process monitoring.
In the last year projects within Electronics Group produced lightweight GPS tags for birds, design and development of FPGA computation devices, new signal analysis for radio astronomy, non-invasive imaging of electrical capacitance, super efficient algorithms for sampling from Gaussian processes, and adaptive computational inference for inverse problems.
The ELEC research group is supported by grants from the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment. [1]
