GPS Signal & Systems

Our research has centered around novel methods of processing signals from satellite navigation systems, and the use of these in ultra-lightweight animal tags.

Using novel signal-processing and inference techniques we have an in-house software GPS solution optimised for low-power embedded applications. We have produced prototypes based around the Rakon GRM865 radio-frequency front-end, that are being incorported into lightweight animal tags. As part of an Ministry of Science and Innovation funded project, these tags are being deployed on a range of endangered bird species.
